A new lithium-ion battery technology developed by researcher Tang Yongbing of carbon neutralization Institute (Preparatory) of Shenzhen Institute of advanced technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has completed large-scale mass production. The working temperature can reach 80 ℃ and the lowest working temperature can be reached at the same time.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Research Institute, the new lithium-ion battery technology developed by Tang Yongbing's research team for nearly ten years is the first battery cell product with wide temperature range, low cost and long life in China.
Where is the "new" of the new battery? The team mainly worked on the negative electrode material and electrolyte, and developed a new aluminum matrix composite negative electrode material. By matching with the positive electrode material of commercial lithium-ion battery, the team developed new products such as lithium manganate, lithium iron phosphate and ternary battery for different application scenarios.
Relevant researchers of the team said that the new aluminum matrix composite cathode material developed this time can effectively alleviate the generation of lithium dendrites and improve safety under low temperature and overcharge conditions. In terms of endurance performance, the energy density of the battery is 13% to 25% higher than that of the traditional lithium-ion battery. It can achieve long endurance and can be fully charged in 20 minutes.
At the same time, in terms of cost, based on the performance advantages of aluminum matrix composite cathode and the developed high-performance electrolyte, low-temperature battery products can get rid of the dependence on expensive nano cathode materials, and the battery cost can be reduced by 10% to 30%.
In addition, more than 90 SCI papers have been published in international journals such as nature chemistry, nature communications and advanced materials; More than 180 patent pools have been formed, including PCT international patents, Chinese invention patents, US, Europe, Japan and South Korea patents, and more than 120 authorized patents have been obtained.
Arumugam manthiram, an international expert in energy storage materials and electrochemistry and professor of the University of Texas at Austin, pointed out in his review paper that this achievement puts forward the concept of dual function aluminum based negative electrode for the first time. Matching with commercial positive electrodes such as lithium cobalt oxide, lithium iron phosphate and ternary materials, the battery shows excellent long cycle stability, which makes the aluminum based battery have great application potential.
